It's evil. The cost of national and international postage has increased. What they don't tell you, directly anyway, is that they have also moved the goal posts on parcel sizes. And this is the cynical bit. I use a lot of standard size A3 mailers to send print editions etc. A standard size A3 mailer is now 2mm too long to fit into small parcel and now falls within medium parcel increasing it's fare by 85%. These are STANDARD size mailers and they are big basterds.

totally agree, how they expect the average customer to be able to work out the postage on a parcel or packet these days is beyond me. Well obviously they don't as you rightly point out it looks like a blatant ploy to fleece the customers

    it gets even worse matey

if you go ahead and post what you believe to be a standard size with just a first class stamp on it. At the sorting office its filtered out and an excess postage charge put on it, this is mostly 5p up to 20p ...but then they slap a £1 handling fee on top of that.

I could done recently by new postage costs. I was expecting an Ebay item to cost about £5 in postage tops. It actually cost £12.

I was in Barnsley PO yesterday, while taking my elderly Mam to the hospital - she waited down the bottom of Market Hill to save walking up. 15 minutes cueing, then jobsworth with his stupid plastic frame taking forever explaining the bollacks. Thing is, they also try printing the stamp thing before they tell you the total and suddenly I'm looking at paying nearly 6 quid for something that was costing me £2.70 2 weeks ago and is costed into the stuff I sell. I'm stood there repeating firmly, 'stop wasting my time, give me my stuff back' already knowing I'll take it all away and lop 5mm off the package and reseal it. Meanwhile, I've left my poor Mam on her own getting battered by that wind and bemoaning not taking advantage of a perfect wash day.

I used to sell books after I'd read them on ebay but stopped a while ago due to postage costs. It wasn't worth it anymore with the increased postage and seller fees.

Use Hermes now for parcels. Faultless so far and a fraction of the RM costs.
