I thought Tommy was from Monk Bretton ,and Mark Jones was from Darfield.
I may be wrong Kev ????

 

Sure Tommy lived on Ridings Avenue at one point - could be wrong. His grave in Monk Bretton is quite moving

 

As far as I'm aware, Barrie, Tommy Taylor does come from Monk Bretton. However, I always thought Mark Jones came from Wombwell. But I also think it's somewhat pedantic.

 

Thought Taylor came from Smithies, Read somewhere that Jones came from Wombwell..

Ex father in law went to school with Mark Jones, I'm sure Darfield Foulstone.
However that doesn't mean he was born there hence the question marks.
He was a cracking centre half.
But two Barnsley lads sadly missed .

 

I'm mates with Marks grandson, he was from Darfield, buried in Wombwell cemetery, now with his wife who died a few years ago and his son Gary, who also died recently.

 

Ah that's sad ,thanks for confirming that ,my memory is fading ,not as much as I thought.
