Slavan Bilic said it best last night with his "You think you are better than you are. You think you have better INDIVIDUAL players but you were simply beaten by a far superior TEAM." Croatia aren't a bunch of overpaid pre-madonna individuals. In fact even with their premier league players i bet their combined weekly wage isn't as much as the weekly wage of the ***** in the centre of our midfield last night. Players like Gerrard, Lampard, Cole and Wright Philips are made to look good by superior foreign players like Essien, Alonzo, Drogba and Torres. In the FA press comference this morning the board answered one question by defending the premier league and saying it was an objective view that the amount of foriegn players were harming the national team. The percentage is now 55% foreign and 45% english and you have the top team regularly fielding a starting 11 with no english players in it which is absolutely criminal. I know we had injuries last night but there was no player from Arsenal or Man united and only three from Chelsea (wright philips not 1st team regular) and one from Liverpool. Our four best teams only produce 4 players for the national teams most important game in years. Compare that to the Italian team against Scotland and you have 7 from 11 playing for Milan, Inter or Juventus (9 out of 11 at the end after subs. The two that weren't were Cannavoro and Zambrotta who play for Real and Barcelona but both were Juventus before match fixing scandal) Something needs doing to sort this out because there is a real chance that in the forthcoming World cup draw England could go into the 3RD tier of seedings so we could easily be drawn in a group with Italy and France or Germany and Spain. You shouldn't feel this pissed of until they fail at the tournement, not the qualifying. (blagger) (N) (casualty) (puke) (doh) (titanic)
Need a quota on foreign managers first and I include Scots in that. New England Manager: "What I'd like Sir Alex is for you to rest Rooney & Hargreaves this week so they actually turn up to the training camp this time." Sir Alex: "Get f.-c.ked"
Never seen us win since we had to go upstairs And those fcking posts in view - for a massive club their ground is fcking ****.
RE: Never seen us win since we had to go upstairs I'm not surprised, they're all deluded. Our lass's best mate goes out with a Wednesday fan, his first question to me was " who's your biggest rivals ? Is it us ?" Quickly followed by "do other teams fans think we're bigger than United /"</p> Told our lass we aren't swinging with them anymore.</p>
far too simplistic! The reason why english players don't play for the 4 top clubs is because they are not good enough. It's not that they are not good enough because they are not getting the opportunity. Problem starts at 11 year old. Playing on full size pitches in 6 inch of mud in the middle of december. English youth football favours strength not skill. But to sort this would be too long term, FA look for short fixes to get short term results...hang is this not education in general? Don't get me started on that.
I watch my 11 year old nephew play on a sunday he spends all week practising hisronaldo tricks and turns in the back garden, does he get to use them?, no, all he does is run backwards and forwardsin 3 inch of mud chasing the ball on a full size pitch with 19 other lads all doing the same. All being hollered at by coaches and parents alike.</p> can't be reight</p> </p>
I know. My lad is going to 11 a side on a full size pitch next season, he's 9 at the moment ffs.</p> As for the parents! I referee sometimes and they are disputing every decision, it's ridiculous, what examples they are. Tossers.</p>
Exactly on boths accounts Having been involved in school football of secondary age this happens all the time. Those that blame imports for a lack of opportunity are as short sighted as the FA officials. It's about blame others i.e. the prem league. If you look at how youth football is organised in Holland or Italy it tells it's own story. First thing I would do with all the FA millions is roll out a prog of changing youth football pitches from grass to artificial, the good stuff not the carpet on tarmac crap that we used to have. Why play high level prof football on good pitches where the ball runs smooth and is kept away from the elements but get our kids to practice running with 3 pound of mud stuck to there boots? That way kids practice skills and get to use them.
I've said before about the Dutch system, 2 year age groups to stop the big lads from dominating everything and NO PARENTS.
