Went out with r lass last night, and today I've resurrected the blog. So here are my thoughts, for those who give a ****, on the demise of King Keith, and where we go from here. http://tarnreview.blogspot.co.uk/2012/12/the-end-eavour-line-for-king-keith.html Cheers.
Good read that mate, totally undecided on who I'd want as the next manager but if I were on the board I'd only be considering those who have had moderately successful past experience in the Championship. Megson wouldn't be the end of the world but Sean O'Driscoll would be a better 'fit' in my opinion - whether he would be interested is another debate.
Enjoyed reading that mate, but as for giving the temporary role to Flicker it's basically a no lose situation for the club. If we had sacked him we'd have had to pay him off, but by keeping him we either give him the chance to resign (avoiding pay off) or we get someone to manage affairs in the interim without additional expenditure. If he sticks around for a few games and we do well they may be able to tempt him to stay on as boss, again with little expenditure. Otherwise, if we do badly and he gets stick from the crowd he may quit. Alternatively, if he does poorly but doesn't quit initially he may do when we appont the new manager, or when Hill gets another job. Also, if he does badly we'll all be more welcoming of the new manager (hopefully!). So by keeping him on the club is saving a pay off (for now) whilst potentially getting a new cheap manager or putting someone forward to be a focal point for abuse if things get worse, paving the way for the heralding of the new white knight who gets appointed to replace him. My theory anyway!
As good a theory as any, pal. And thanks to yourself and anyone else who read it and enjoyed it, even if you didn't agree with it all. Wasn't going to bother resurrecting it, until Keith went. As with a lot that goes along with being a reds fan at the minute, I'd grown apathetic. But then today I though **** it. New year, new start, new hope. That's my new motto, for a bit anyway.
I agree with you about Megson being a good candidate. I don't understand all this "don't want him because he's a Wednesdayite" twaddle. The clubs have traded players and managers (including former) for decades. In fact I bet he would be all fired up for it to put one over Mandaric.
Re: Well, it's about time! Good read that andy rung a lot of bells with reds fans imo All the best to you n yours as well mate.

Re: Well, it's about time! thanks Merlin, I was definitely in the same camp as far as KH was concerned and feel very disappointed although not surprised about the recent events (and for what its worth I thougth Spackman was the way forward at the time). I actually lost the plot after the Leeds game and like someone flicking a switch, became thoroughly disillusioned about professional football in general and Barnsley FC in particular, and how match officials can be influenced to influence outcomes (a totally separate subject I know) my last home match was Crystal Palace and I'd left long before the equaliser but reading your blog is quite cathartic and highlights that I am not yet sufficiently de-sensitised about my home club. Reading this BBS as I have for the first time in months has reassured me that we (most) are feeling the pain none of us know what the future holds but getting in a new manager now, with half of the season still to go, suggests the club is prepared to fight to retain its championship status but there is so little time available for such a crucial decision
