Not been tonight but it does seem that the goal before half time changed the game. Barnsley lead at half time and then come out and play even ok and don't let any goals in until the 60 min and the game would have been different and the home crowd also different.
Are we the only country that has these "parachute" payments... I mean they don't apply to any other division either. Just from the prem. I'm with Keith. It's *****
tbh i think its a lot more than £8 million that their team is worth compared to ours didn't rhodes alone cost that?
I agree Hemsworth. I said to r lass that if we get in at half time, still ahead, the Rovers fans would boo their team off, and we'd probably get summat from the game.... five minutes later, they'd scored. I agree with Keith re parachute payments. I think most people do. Why does a team that fails (gets relegated) receive finincial assistance for the league below? It's unfair, in so many ways. They should cut their cloth accordingly. However, I don't agree with Keith, that the parachute payments lost us the game. Our own profligacy in front of goal, our poor center halves, and bizarre substitutions were probably more likely reasons for us losing.
Its meant to ease the pain financially, not allow teams to buy 8 million pound players. They could have spoiled it for every team, imo. Take that money have share it out between the other 21 other teams in champ.
Not at all. We had plenty of chances to score in the second half before they did. The reason we lost was because they took their chance when it came to them, whereas we couldn't do more with our chances. We need to work on attacking set pieces for one. Wait till you see Harewood's miss.
Best perfomance of the season. 100% effort Reason I think we lost was tactical - replacing Dagnall and Davies with the very ineffective Harewood and Etuhu up front. Dagnall could run all day, and although Davies was getting tired, he was still our main threat. Harewood fluffed a real chance and I just get the feeling he has one eye on his luxury carr business and only one eye on football. We stopped playing at that point. Stones was a big blow. We completely dominated. It just show how one good striker (who did nothing besides score - ok that's what you want) can make a difference. Their winner could have been stopped by an outstreched leg perhaps. I have to say - Perkins was rusty and at the moment I'd stick with Crainie - who was immense - and Dawson alongside Mellis and Cywka.
