vis a vis Barnsley FC and the youth team he helps run.

He stated that BFC basically gave him a **** off tablet with regard to forging closer links between his team and BFC. Now then, was that just him with a gripe getting a cheap dig at BFC OR is there a fundamental flaw in how BFC scouts for young players in the locality ? ie is BFC assuming that it'll pick up any talented youngsters and if it doesn't then AFC acts as the safety net ?

My nephew , who had trials at Man Utd, Sheff Wed and now plays for Rotherham boys wasn't even looked at at his beloved BFC.

When I was at school about 20 years ago the best lads in each year went for trials at Oakwell, usually 2 outfielders and a goalkeeper, never got picked though, their loss.

Oakwell once picked up 2 young uns called Gabe Savage and Dave Bates from local schools, they went on to nick all the first teamers boots and sell them at scout dyke for 2 quid a throw. Not bad Glavins boots for 2 Quid
