Who reckons we'll somehow manage to stay up - be it the season being scrapped or us actually winning our last games after it startes again. The alternatives being the season being halted on current positions or points per game - obviously we'd be down then. I was starting to hope last week that it'd be completely scrapped, but there seems to be more momentum behind playing games behind closed doors now, which I think would mean we'd be getting relegated. Can't complain if we do like - we've been awful and deserve it, but I was hoping this would give us a let off!
If the season is completed behind closed doors and everyone is fit,I think they have a good chance of accruing the points to stay up.
No it’s not . No one has earned a place till the seasons finished . If the season doesn’t finish then whatever decisions are made are artificial not earned
Up to now no but that doesn’t mean to say we can’t get out of it choose how bad it looks . From past experiences it can be done by irrespective of whether we can or not the decisions made without finishing the league are artificial. It’s my guess Wigan would have slipped back into the relegation zone before season finished . Granted it’s my opinion others may differ but without finishing the season nothing has been earned .
Season restarts - we don't have enough; a deserved relegation Season ends & positions stand; deserved relegation, we've been awful Season ends & everything voided; we've got out of jail
you have to wonder how the isolation/lockdown period has affected players too. It could be that we come back and are better players. Only time will tell I guess.
Fair enough but for those that have to make the decisions if league is not finished there’s gonna be hell from somewhere whatever the decide . To deem Wigan are safe and stay up and the bottom three as it stands are relegated is gonna be very controversial indeed .
well we have seen the s h i t it has stirred up in Scotland. Cannot see it being any different this side of the border.
It won’t be any different because some will contend one decision or another . It’s a nightmare and even if they decide to finish this season at some future point people will still point To out of contract players leaving etc etc.
Not having that. If the season ends and the current position stands, we have been shafted. During the 1996/97 season, we finished 2nd. Promoted to the Premier League. If that season had finished with nine games spare, we'd have finished 3rd.
Could we not just start the season again in August as normal, but everyone starts on their current points and we have in effect a double season ? Not that I can see it starting up again anyway.
I'd like to point out however, I'm not arsed (personally speaking) what league we play in. I'm of the belief there are way more important things in life, particularly right now to worry about than folk kicking a bag of wind around a field. But cash is king.
Until next season, I don’t think anything will be learned from this season and a repeat of the same is in the pipeline
What I can’t get my head around is when we played Plymouth and were 0-4 up and the game was abandoned we had to play again even though a good part of the match had been played . Surely same rules apply ?
If the season had carried on and we hadn't entered this pandemic we were off down. If it resumes in a month or so behind closed doors who knows the break could have done us good and other teams not so good match fitness will be a issue, but we still have 7 points to catch up on in 9 games so you would expect us to be relegated. If the season gets cancelled we have got lucky and struber is the luckiest manager in bfc history.
If I'm truthful I really couldn't see us staying up but the end of the season can be weird. I wouldn't have been surprised if we'd won at Leeds for example, as we saw how they crumbled last season. If there isn't time for a full season then to be finish this season and then decide what to do for the rest of the time. If there is time for a full season then I think this one should be null and void, preferably with some sort of a handicap to reflect this seasons positions. Bolton would have got out of jail in a bigger way than us and Luton though imo.
