tried his best to stop any football taking place with his whistle. that being said, thought I saw sufficient improvement to feel optimistic for the rest of the season. reverting to 4-4-2 and dropping Paul Reid seems to have done the trick, Muller only had 2 saves that I can remember against a side that havent failed to score for a long time. Andersen starting to show some quality on the ball, JCR brought some pace and delivery from the right, both strikers working hard, Odejayi in particular looking a real handful. only disappointment of course is the attendance.
Think we'd get a few more through the gate if it wasn't for fat lads with goalie gloves apparently.
First half was pub league standard. We're miles away at the minute.

Scunny came to spoil thought we handled them well, Souza was a million times better than I've seen, Kozluk still needs to improve and Werling still more circus than I'd like, but going forward we look dangerous and have to give credit to Davey for his team selection, think he got it spot on. Bringing Togwell on at the right time, leaving Reid and Johnson out, cant fault him.
RE: Scunny came to spoil Togwell was only brought on imho cos De Silva was in line for a red card. (ffs Hartog edit-tastic)
McCann isn't a left winger by any streych but thought he applied himself well. Souza is a head on a stick. Start of 2nd half he just watched the ball roll past him into our area. He needs a lot of work before he's up to speed. He's got the physical attributes but his lack of concentration will cost.
Still far from convinced me by Davey or his tactics.
The Sparrow man was a tad vexed by their performance afterwards. I suggested that they play Sheff Utd every week.

RE: Scunny came to spoil McCann offered nothing on the left. Don't know whether he can't play in that position or he's just crap.
Agree about Togwell coming on, it was odds on that Scunny were going to try to wind up De Silva after he'd got booked, their no. 18 was at it constantly.
You are easily pleased. Obviously Scnuthorpe played with a narrow midfield in order to try to spoil the game. So what did we do - matched it. Why, when we could have played a winger on the left as well to create more space. As a result, long balls up to the front for the big men to battle for. As for the throw-ins, do not get me started. Every one thrown long down the touchline for Ferenczi to battle for. They might be kicking a ball but its not football.
Has Matty got a clause in his contract? a clean sheet and a good performance (2nd half), cant complain, always gonna take time for them to gel. lets see what the next 2 games bring. guessing that Davey will change things again away from home....
Think the idea was that he would offer more cover when Werling is running full pelt towards the byline, he'll need games cos its been a while since he had a run in the side, think he's a better option than Ricketts, who for me seems to have come with a bit of an attitude.
*cough* dunno like... We were in for him a couple of seasons back apparently.
Genuinely surprised he's not moved on/up.

You mean for his yellow card? The Scunny bloke was blocking him off and backing into him and it was blatant obstruction, but seeing as that doesn't seem to be an offence anymore the ref gave nothing. The Scunny bloke then turned and kicked De Silva and he responded by throwing his hands up just catching their player. Should have both been booked. There was another one in 2nd half, not sure which Barnsley player was going on goal, ball was carrying to the area and the goalie would, most likely, collect it but would have been close with our player coming in, their defender just jumped in front of our player to block him, how that wasn't an obstruction I'll never know.
I've not seen anything in Ricketts But I reckon Devaney would have been the better option. However, we won and kept a clean sheet, so you can't really ask for more. It's just the quality, particularly in the first half, wasn't up to much.
