It's ridiculous that on the first day of the new season that I am having to create a thread to criticise the referee. What an utter shambles you are Mr Keith Stroud. It seems that for some reason you don't know the rules of football. Sent from my iPhone
I think we may see quiet a few more threads criticising referees this season. The league we're in changes but the performance of referees is very likely to stay the same.
He was shocking. He made my blood boil. Bru should've been sent off for his dangeorous challenge on Kent - it was horrible - straight red territory, and Bru was already on a yellow Ref bottled it. Later on our players were being man handled - Hammil particularly - and wrestled to the ground - for nothing. He was giving our lads yellow cards for breathing on them. I also think he waved away a penalty that had merit. shocker.
I actually expect the quality of refereeing this season to be worse now that they have gone time. Last season the best referees were used (premiership refs aside) this season it's the best referees who were willing to give up their day job so there will be some inferior referees there simply because they were willing to quit their job
Just got back and you have saved me the trouble of starting a new thread!! So much for full time (i won't call them professional) referees, it seems the 2 referees I have seen this season have both NOT made game changing decisions. Simon Hooper not giving Newcastle a blatant penalty last night and Keith Stroud not sending off Ipswich's number 17 Bru. I am sure they both will be doing lots of evaluation this week into their performances!! Unfortunately it is too late for us and we have to hope his performance the next time we are acquainted, which i am sure will sooner rather than later with there only being 18 referees at the moment. More generally if that is going to be the standard that we are going to get this season I personally am not looking forward to it.
Shocking - inconsistent and totally bottled the Bru situation. Not saying we would have won, but it would have changed the pattern of the game. For a start Grant Ward may never have been brought on or if he had been, he would have had to play deeper.
