No way was that a straight red. Maybe FIFA are trying to make some extra money - I think countries get charged around 3000 for a yellow and 5000 for a red.

Need a little more common sense...

    What's ESPN's commentary like?

    They still got Tommy Smith?

Tommy Smith = even more annoying than David Pleat - FACT

He makes no sense and is awful.

The game is on ABC and they are doing ok - they use "awfense" and "deefense" a lot and when a player fouls to slow the game, they call it a professional foul. They are showing all the games over here which I am thankful for as football is hardly ever mentioned on the "Worldwide Leader in Sports" (ESPN)

When I saw some Champions League on ESPN I considered applying to be a co-commentator for them after Tommy Smith's comments!

I was thinking the exact same thing - the bloke has no idea yet he hosts all the football stuff over here. All he is good at is being annoying and sounding Irish.

    RE: Refereeing....

I can see the Italians winning it now that they have even numbers on the pitch again

    You've got me intrigued.

I'm trying to work out my commentary 101 line-up, and I don't want to miss out on good contenders.

He would be a definite contender

If you are going on looks - ESPN have an ex-USA player called Marcello Balboa - looks like the lead singer from a hair band in the 80s. Very strange.
