if carling made filems... ... they'd all be as good as the Shawshank redemption. one of the best filems of all time.
Anybody know how he got the poster back on the wall .... after climbing through the hole presumably arms / head first ?
Its always bugged me. Nice poster though. Raquel wasn't it ?

RE: Anybody know how he got the poster back on the wall .... The poster would have been secured to the wall at the top so he just lifted it up like a flap.
I bet the marketing men at CARLSBERG are chuffed that all their billions spent on advertising have promoted their main competitor brand!
Soz, but I tried it. Can I suggest you try :-
a)Cut a hole in your bedroom wall roughly 2 foot above your bed and slightly larger than the circumference of your torso. (TIP: try using a drill or modern tool to avoid taking 35 years to complete)
b)Cover with a pster of your favourite cover-girl and attach at each corner with blu-tack
c)Attach a satchel or small holdall by hooking over your neck or around your waist.
d)Pick up torch with left hand or hold in teeth.
e) lift poster with one hand by unsticking lower 2 blobs of blu-tack.
f)at the same time, attempt to hoist yourelf off the bed, trhough the oriface using just one hand without bending, tearing or otherwise disfiguring favourite poster. Attempt to let go of poster without it catching on your arse / legs / boots.
g)start to crawl forward and attempt escape. At the same time, hope that the poster will fall back into place and that the two blobs of blu-tack will somehow re-attach themselves, thus allowing highly trained prison staff not to notice anything suspicious
I know, I tried it !

RE: Soz, but I tried it. The two blobs of blu-tack on the bottom of the poster don't have to reattach themselves. In fact, you don't even need them. The poster will hang perfectly flat to the wall if just secured at the top. And remember, Andy Dufresne had 30 years of practice getting in and out of his hole without damaging his poster as he was digging the tunnel.
Hmm, but. He could have just taken it off and laid it on his bed for thirty years; the only night he needed to reattach was on the great night itself.
Also, in my experiments, if I left the poster unattached at the bottom, then throwing a small stone chess-piece at said poster didn't generate enough force to penetrate it. Attaching firmly with blu-tack though allowed chess-piece to penetrate poster and produce a higly effective (for cinematic purposes) "pop" sound, indicating the possibility of a hole or other hollow behind it.
I appreciate your thoughts, but I have pondered this for many years.

I've just realised the flim is completely flawed! Ady escapes in 1965 but blutack wasn't invented until 1971 !!!
