Watched The Somme last night, very moving. Also makes you wonder just how close you came to actually not being here! Over half the men who fought at The Somme were killed, my grandfather fought there so some quirk of fate where he could have been a couple of men further down the line and he might not have survived!
Somme Agreed. I almost wept at how poorly he defended for Man City last night. Distin was much better. Chris Perry for Charlton was awful ... and he looks a bit like Dillinger.
me too my maternal grandfather was literally on the station platform waiting to embark for France when an officer asked "is there anyone here who knows how to type and read shorthand?" My grandfather stepped forward and was told to remain and was put in a munitions section so avoiding the trenches-a close call!!
Ponty Why do you think you are so hilariously funny when in fact you are pathetic, making a joke out of something about the Somme, you make me sick, you little Weasel
RE: me too The wife's great grandad came to a gassy end when he was gassed with some type of gas near the somme. He died by gassing, so we think he was probably gassed. He is buried in Le Treport. Which is in French France.
I'll ignore the Dillinger Palsy ... ... and concentrate on your bizarre statement. People fight & die every day. Do they get medals? No. Do they get memorial ceremonies for the next 50 years? No. I think it's about time we recognise the real heroes: WWF wrestlers. These 'guys' put their necks on the line every day ... and not for freedom or democracy - for our entertainment. I can't say anymore. I'm filling up.
If I asked ... ... ''what is that thingy there which seems to transport cars over that river'' - would your answer be: ''Um - bridge''? I suppose you & your BNP buddies are quite Patriotic, yes?
RE: Really? What are you going on about numpty, and by the way leave Daniel out of this, at the end of the day you have disrespected the brave men of this country the ones that died to ensure democracy for the people of this country.
RE: Really? Yes. That's why I visit Verdun on a regular basis ... to have a pop at our brave men. Have you had your shower converted yet?
Non. My relatives are piss heads. The Father in Law used to go to the battle fields every year & we used to drive across to Le Treport on the way home to visit his grand dads grave & stuff. As he got older I used to drive. I've seen my fair share of bone yards. My speciality is getting drunk in French bars & then attempting to converse with the locals.
It lasted quite a while , and in the end they had a mutiny. Due to the rank and file losing faith in the Officers. I think they shot quite a few of their own.
RE: It lasted quite a while , and in the end they had a mutiny. Did you hear about the first french tank? Only had two speeds..reverse and super reverse
