yes it was That was the team that Simon Davey inherited. The game before davey came in the keeper, defence and midfield were exactly as I mentioned, only the strikers were different but both were at the club and considered first teamers. Davey brought in players and changed it around immediatly but by very definition of it being davey that brought them in then they weren't there when he came
Reid is far more mobile than darren moore and I would be surprised if kozluk is any faster than heckingbottom was
a proper left back who was **** a keeper who couldn't claim a cross or command his area (the exact opposite of Muller who we all wanked over to start with) 2 centre backs who couldn't win a header and were slow mcindoe was brilliant but would have left anyway liked toggy, devaney was good then, howard was still overrated and upset the midfield mix liked hayes - he had ability richards a workhorse who most hated now we have a better keeper, foster and 2 pedigreed experienced defenders in moore and kozluk and season on season (before this one) hassell has been getting better so the back 5 should be better than 2.5 yrs ago midfield now should be better as should the strikeforce. reason it isn't is Davey. we have better players now than before
Strikers that were scoring ..... ? Eh ? Yeah, they were clattering them in left, right and centre weren't they ? Marc Richards was just plain prolific if i remember rightly .... and Hayes was nailed on for 6 or 7 a season.
Not going to argue there However, you said "Young mobile defence" - Heckingbottom, Hassel and Reid were not that!
RE: Strikers that were scoring ..... ? I'd take Paul Hayes over Kayode Odejayi and Jon Macken... FACT! Shouldn't have let him go in my opinion.
RE: Strikers that were scoring ..... ? Decent squad player Hayes but out and out striker scoring goals ..... never in a million years. Your right though, i'd rather have him in the squad than Oddjob. Not Macken though.
In all honesty, we had 3 main strikers back then Hayes, Nardiello and Richards, combined. Over the two seasons they played for us they played and scored this amount. Hayes.............................75 (11) Richards..........................69 (18) Nardiello (Permanent).......64 (14) TOTAL..............................208(43) Since then, only Macken, Odejayi have played a similar amount of times so i've added our other two most prolific strikers since Ricco, Haysey and Nadds left. Macken (permanent)........68 (15) Odejayi...........................72 (4) Bogdanovic......................20 (5) Ferenczi...........................53 (11) TOTAL..............................213(35) Bit of a difference tbh
So basically the point you're trying to make is that the squad is better?? I should fecking well hope so for the money thrown at it - Ritchie's team costs about £300,000 - 3/4 of what Davey pissed away on Miguel Mostto. Not really too much to expect to improve on a squad that had spent four years in League One. The only problem is that the squad that came up (by and large) finished 20th - funnily enough the exact same position we finished last year.
