    Stoke wouldn't loan him because they would be unable to recall him, and he'd be stuck with us much longer than the 2 games we need him.

    I think thats it - we only need him for 1 week and we couldn't do that as there wouldn't be any "extenuating circumstances" that would allow him to be recalled from a 1 month loan.
