Davey, a friend of Everton boss David Moyes, is eager to sign de Silva for another month at least.

The 25-year-old played his fourth game for Barnsley at Stoke and is unlikely to break into Everton first team squad at present.

Davey today was checking on Rob Kozluk (groin) and Jamal Campbell-Ryce (hamstring), who both went off injured at Stoke.

Stephen Foster took over at right back from Kozluk at Stoke with Lewin Nyatanga coming off the bench to play at centre back. Martin Devaney replaced Campbell-Ryce for the last 10 minutes.

Miguel Mostto hit the woodwork twice and Kim Christensen smashed a chance against the post as Barnsley Reserves were beaten 2-0 by Scnuthorpe's second string last night at Oakwell.

Mostto also had a goal disallowed for offside after Barnsley were trailing to goals from Peter Winn and Daniel McBreen.

Barnsley Reserves: Colgan, Van Homoet, Atkinson, Meynell, Potter, Ricketts, Mattis, Butterfield, Christensen, McGrory (White 63).

Sounds like Mostto is getting sharper, scored in his last game 3 good attempts yesterday - can't wait to see him play when he's settled.
