Ferenczi Stokes fires in dogfight Winning feeling: Istvan Ferenczi, left, and Grant McCann celebrate the vital win « Previous « PreviousNext » Next » View GalleryBy Simon Meeks Barnsley The one time he was found wanting and a header from Sidibe homed in on the target, Grant McCann headed off his line. And then when Sidibe won a high cross and nodded down for Adam Rooney, Barnsley put a lightning block on it. Reid together with Lewin Nyatanga, Sam Togwell and even Devaney chucked themselves at everything that moved while Rajczi tracked back almost as far as being a fifth midfielder. Paul Heckingbottom retained his place at left back ahead of Adam Eckerlsey. He let no-one down. Neil Austin, in for suspended right back Bobby Hassell, stood firm, although Stoke might have had a penalty when he put hands on Eustace and the midfielder went down. Ref Joslin said ‘no’ and the telly pictures backed him up. They showed a player too eager to go to ground. Stoke manager Tony Pulis didn’t make a fuss. He said: “Eustace thought he was fouled but sometimes you get them sometimes you don’t.” Pulis knows his troubles are down to not scoring enough. With his top scorer Ricardo Fuller banned, the man with most goals in the team that played Barnsley was penalty-taking centre half Danny Higginbotham. Ref Joslin even added five minutes on at the end to aid Stoke but the night belonged to Barnsley. Davey leapt in the air as the final whistle sounded but he soon calmed down. He said: “I couldn’t fault any of the players. Grant McCann in the last two games has been exceptional, likewise has everyone else on the pitch, it’s a team effort. “We have to keep this work ethic going and see how far it will take us. “All games are cup finals. As I’ve said before we’re not going to stay up with the win at Stoke and if we lose a game we’re not going to go down.” Last Updated: 27 February 2007 « Previous PagePage 2 of 4Next Page »
