it certainly does.... cheap reporting, hiding facts, making generalisations, making assumptions. You're spot on, says it all.
RE: it certainly does.... The super soaraway sun can make a major klan meeting / cross burning by interviewing a few of the work shy and feckless! Easy journalism ( almost as easy as the BBC ) wish i worked for the Sun
This says it all for me "They’ll work for the minimum wage and I’m not prepared to do that, I was earning £24,000 a year.” You were earning £24,000 a year. That's in the past though. If you're not prepared to work for what the employers are willing to pay, don't knock those who are. In a recession, it's an employers market.
RE: This says it all for me Yep. I been temping for £6 an hour for a month after getting redundo.
Not as much as I was on before like, but miles better pay than going on the old Jam Roll.

RE: This says it all for me I got made redundant in 2002 And took a job significantly less than I earned previously - though to be honest one I enjoy more I still dont earn what I did then thats 8 years ago - if fact am around 20% down today to what I was on in 2000 and no chance of a pay rise this year in fact many of our competitors and customers have taken pay cuts of around 10% Economy is buggered so you have to get the best you can. Dont get me started on Tube drivers today
Re Roy ex Ardsley Lodge He's from Sunderland (not that matters of course) but had he had local knowledge he would never have taken the place on. That place was on its knees long before the recession hit.It hasn't done anything since the Swaine family first converted from Ardsley Working mens club to the Lodge. He took a massive gamble taking on that place, he seemed a decent bloke and tried hard with it, but it was open and closed that many times previously, he was always flogging a dead horse.
the worst thing is I nearly put my foot through the TV the other night after watching BBC's excuse for reporting. They did a piece from outside the town hall which in visual terms was exactly the same as the sun. And that was from a national news cast. Cheap, easy and maximum impact for least effort. Absolutely disgraceful. The media are loving it. And it's pulling MY town to bits. I do not feel ashamed of my town and never will. What I am ashamed of is the ones that voted for them and the ones that didn't vote at all. As a result I am being tared by the media brush, and it's painful.
It's a national laughing stock I know... it's one of the things my workmates bring up when they fancy a bit of pommy piss-taking.
