I didnt go to the Coventry game, where by all accounts we were boring and uninventive. I also think that at times Hill has made selection/formation errors, e.g. I thought it a mistake to play Done wide on the right against Forest and thought he did much better on the left in the second half. I could go on.... I do think, however, that over time the team is being developed sensibly, prudently and tactically (in spite of occasional ****-ups). There is better movement on the pitch as a whole, the games, overall, are more entertaining than under Robins and Davey, the squad wage bill is being reduced to a more realistic level whilst the management team are still having the team trying to play football. There will be further blips and disasters on the way but with more and more teams suffering from financial problems in the next year or two I think BFC will make progress if we stick with the management team and start to believe. Some people on this board are unbelievably negative. Should I name names...?

You don't need to name names...

On the whole I agree, although I do think that standards have slipped since January. Keith seems a little disillusioned at times too. It needs to be remembered that he's new to this level and maybe he's feeling the heat. He's entitled to get the odd thing wrong and I certainly haven't agreed with everything he's done so far.

But I admire his honesty, and the way he's restructuring the club bodes well under much publicised financial restraint so he should be given our support rather than criticism. I'm sure the financial regulations will be signed off as statute for everyone eventually but in the mean time I'm very happy we are cutting our cloth accordingly.

I get hugely frustrated by the attitude of some folk on here. Everyone is entitled to an opinion but the negativity is at times completely unfounded. The expectation levels are a tad unrealistic and I wonder how many of the grumblers were sat with me nine or ten years ago during administration when I wasn't sure if every fixture might be the last, when the club were that desperate they were asking for money to put your name on a seat, on a brick in a wall and for a true red bond. I wonder how many remember the feeling of elation when Isaiah rankin scored in the last minute against brentford to secure safety in division three.

To be honest a football club which is financially sound and not in danger of going bust, competing as best it can in the second level is all we can wish for, and as and when the finance rules are applied by all clubs, we may be able to compete more.

Gates of 12k or 14k rather than 9 or 10 might help though, can't see that happening and so until it does I'm happy we're safe and sound in the championship - I can't see it needing many more than 45 points to stay up this year, the 43 we have could even do the job. And if for once we can keep the same boss for a few years and let him build and grow the team then the fifty odd or whatever points that we'll end up on this year can be sixty odd next year and eventually maybe more, and the top six in sight.

All this said we need a result at the moment to reinstate a bit of confidence. But I feel a lot better about the future now than I did at any point under Robins or Davey even if we aren't streets ahead points wise.

Well said. Sadly we live in a town with a high percentage of morons so its unlikely to ever change.

I was going to say the same last night about Keith hill feeling the heat a bit,,,maybe we are wrong , but i think he is,,,he'll have been a god a rochdale considering what he did there,,,but in the championship its different,we've had a taste of the top flight, and a play off final,so expectations are higher. But we have to be realistic as to where we are now,and in the main i think most fans are realistic.,they know we've no money and we loose every decent player to the highest bidder,so all in all i reckon most are 'content' with our position-so long as the players appear to battle for 90 mins.Performances and tactics like we witnessed at coventry will add to the anti-hill brigade,,but performances like yesterdays 2nd half prove that he and the players are capable.....so all in all i'm happy with hillcroft..
43 points will keep us up,simply because the bottom 3 teams havnt got a prayer of getting near that total.
