As a Leicester City supporter, I hope you all don't mind me joining your forum, but there is good reason! My son suffers from a rare chromosome disorder called MECP2 Duplication Syndrome, which affects many aspects of his development. Recently a breakthrough has been made in research and a cure is now a possibility! Due to how rare his condition is, there is no funding available from the government, so we are having to raise the money ourselves. As his Daddy, I'm not prepared to sit and do nothing to fight for my little boys future! This season, along with 2 of Ellis' uncles, I will be cycling to every Leicester City away fixture, promoting a text code and number. Anyone will be able to donate to our cause by simply texting MECP77 followed by £1, £2, £3, £5 or £10 to 70070. So far I have completed the journey to every away game this season, racking up over 2000 miles and raising over £60,000 so far! The support I have received has been amazing, from both Leicester fans and supporters of the various clubs I have visited. More information on the challenge and my sons condition can be found at http://www.textellis.com or you can visit my JustGiving page http://www.justgiving.com/textellis. I really hope that some of you would like to donate to the campaign, even if it is just £1 EVERY little helps! You can follow our progress on Twitter textellis or "Like" us on Facebook www.facebook.com/textellis We may support different teams, but sometimes things are that little bit more important in life and I hope we can join together and make the Barnsley leg of my journey a real success! Richard
Brilliant what you're doing Richard. There's absolutely nothing I wouldn't do for my kids and I'm just thankful that I'm not going through what you're going through. Like you say, there are more important things in life, Bill Shankley was wrong. Hope you reach your target, and my small contribution helps in some small measure.
Best of luck with your campaign. Hope you have a safe journey and a good evening at Oakwell, although not so good that you win!
Good luck Richard, I hope one day your little boy will be well again. Do BFC know about your fundraising? I know you will be very welcome tomorrow.
Best of luck to you Richard and my very best wishes to your son. I have a company mobile so I can't use it but I will visit your justgiving page and donate to this very worthy cause.
Don't know if its worked or notbut hopefully 5 quid has found its way to your Charity. Keep up the great work mate, its very inspirational.
Donation winging its way through the ether right now. Good luck to you and your son, worst of luck to your football team for the next few hours.
