i thought thin red line was a stunning film. no country for old men just didn't really get going for me. plenty disagree though
Love em both. Gone for The Thin Red Line. Half of it anyway, I'll Sky Plus the other half. Just lucked out though, flicked over in the ads and fallen on the (stunning) coin toss scene in No Country
No country for old men - that's what Flicker said to Steeley (aged 28) about Oakwell during contract negotiations
I haven't seen the Thin Red Line for years. I saw it at the cinema, then late rented the tape. Jim Caviezel is the best actor of his generation, even thought he makes some bad choices with jobs. I'd like to get hold of the script. No country was really impressive, but it's massively flawed and doesn't have any practical, lasting message. Except for - look out for big weird blokes in black who look like homicidal maniacs.
'Except for - look out for big weird blokes in black who look like homicidal maniacs' Pretty sound advice though
No Country for Old Men, it's a bit stupid, but well acted, very atmospheric. Thin Red Line annoyed me, historically inaccurate, It's Vietnam movie set in WW2, but beautifully shot.
