the centre is on the "Harwell Campus" quite near us. We have watched it being built. I wish I could say I am surprised.with the behaviour of the government but it is par for the course.

Why do people not see it?

People often see what they want to see I'm afraid, and they are given a huge amount of assistance by large parts of our media. This mob are constantly stoking battles and playing people off against each other, generally fictional ones that don't matter one jot but do enough to create tension, or tap into base and primitive instincts among a certain part of society.

I'm not sure they'll be able to mask the cost of living crisis that's upon us and as much as they'll try and blame everyone else, I think it will stick that they are to blame.

But there will still be plenty of people who vote for DePfeffels replacement at the next election, irrespective of their performance and complete lack of morals or basic standards of decency.

Politically speaking, things have never been so bad/embarrassing.

Everyday something literally mind-blowing happens yet it gets laughed off or swept under the already bulging carpet.

If we don't get these rotten ******** out at the next GE I'm definitely moving abroad. This country feels less and less like somewhere I can call home

Problem is moving abroad is now so much more difficult precisely because of our Neanderthal policies regarding horrible foreigners
I could have moved to Austria a few years ago - now its a lot harder though I must admit it definitely has its appeal

No in Austria they are still wearing masks - I caught it in France where they have given up like we have.

Just tested this afternoon and still positive, so wont be coming to the Reading game.which is a big shame.

Legally I could, as I dont have a temperature and now we have stopped testing because we have beaten covid, I think the guidance is after 5 days its fine to go out, but I'm not a selfish Tory **** and dont want to risk giving it to anyone so I will stay home, Ive still got a few Lateral flow tests left so will wait till I test clear before going out anywhere.

I agree with the preceding comments. I was passing over the main line to Bristol earlier today and was held up by a temporary/permanent one way traffic section over a bridge and commented to the current Mrs. DR that this country is becoming more like a banana republic every day. Yet we remain one of the wealthiest countries in the world (fortunately).

FFS, when you think they can’t get any worse they somehow always manage it:

They're now sh-tting the bed to screw everything up for the next government so that they'll get back in with another huge majority in 7 years or so. If they win the next general election, they'll see that as a bonus.

And yet in Germany they have the highest rates in Europe.

Come on Dave, it's two years in. You're not still seriously pretending they make a blind bit of difference?

No not with you there I long ago gave up thinking they coudnt get any worse its just a continual plummet to the depths. I darent even make any jokes about outrageous things they might do next in case it turns out to give them an idea they hadnt thought of

You presumably saw this further benefit that never made it onto the bus

Of course they make a difference especially in enclosed poorly ventilated areas but they arent a magic bullet

If masks make no difference why do Surgeons etc bother with them

I don't really want to argue with you but you're well aware how specious that is and the difference between mask effectiveness in a sterile environment and in normos.

    1) Have you seen how surgeons prepare and put masks on? They literally don't touch anything with their hands. It's very rare that surgery is performed wearing a filthy rag that they've just pulled out of their back pocket with a boiled sweet stuck to it.

    2) They're mainly for protecting against liquid borne droplets and blood spatter, not airborne infections.

    3) If they did protect the surgeon against airborne infection - and vice versa - then by that logic it's OK for surgery to be performed by people with the rona, right?

Regardless of the science of whether they do in fact work or not: why is everyone who is against masks so bad at basic cleanliness? No wonder you’re against them if it’s a ‘filthy rag’ you’re putting on your face. Try washing them like a normal person. I’d be against underwear, socks, any type of clothing really if I left them to be filthy rags and kept wearing them over and over… and they don’t go against my mouth and nose.

Marc Brexit has made it nigh on impossible to move into Europe unless you are a millionaire. I hope for your sake and others of your age things change in the future.
