Before you get on at me, I am thrilled by yesterday's events. However, the window system has caused us problems. We had 3 premier league players on loan, and it was no secret that we wanted to get them permanently. However, they all had to go back to their clubs, where one of them never got a look in, another made a couple of sub appearances and the other had a couple of games. Their clubs were paying their wages during this time. Meanwhile, our team was seriously weakened and we dropped down the league, and we couldn't replace them with anyone else because all the time there was a chance they would come back before the deadline. When the deadline came we got them all back anyway. If there was no window system, we could have signed them at any time once their clubs decided they were surplus. So we lost points, the other clubs involved lost money (unnecessary wages), and the players were hardly playing. Remind me again why we have transfer windows?
Agreed Last night on Sky Sports News was laughable. Supermarket sweep. Clubs paying over the odds for players, deals being done at midnight. Crazy.
Yes it's crap, not only is it crap it gives players who other teams are looking at a false sense of security. Their egos are enlarged at the though of bigger and better clubs moving in for them through paper talk and speculation. This in turn effects their performances, the crowd gets on their back and we slide down the table. Scrap it i say. (N)
But we could have signed them on Jan 1st - No reason to wait until the last minute. Appreciating of course that Everton wanted the best deal they could get for ADS, and so waited until the last minute before selling.
