The treatment that Winnall got today from opposition AND referee was really poor

He's not back to his best yet by any means, but he is still a danger to any defence, and they knew it. Hence every time he got hold of the ball he was fouled, or so it seemed. But then, of course, Mr Eltringham took a different view (has this fool EVER had a good game at Oakwell?)

He saw Sam as the aggressor and the most ludicrous example of that was near the byeline at the Ponty End/East Stand corner. Two defenders were standing their ground (in other words obstructing him) and he just shrugged his way between them to try to get the ball. The ref gave a foul against the ONE player who was trying to get past TWO obstructing defenders. It was laughable and it would have got a good natured jeer had it not been the fact that the ref wasn't giving SSW, and the rest of our lot, any protection at all. Benefit of the doubt? Forget it.

Pleased that he got his goal - he deserved it for his effort. The pre-inury SSW is not back yet, but he will be. Soon, hopefully.

I couldn't believe some of the decisions given today. There was no wonder he got frustrated in the second half.

Might sound strange but I think the referee allowed things to get personal with Winnall today. The more decisions he gave against us, the more wound up Winnall got. Each time Winnall complained the arrogance emitting from the referee was all too clear. He COULD NOT WAIT to book him for dissent late on. Even after that, whenever Winnall looked like complaining the ref was staring at him wagging his finger. Poor performance from Mr Eltringham.

the refs best decision was the handball against CH right on the corner of the 6 yard box in front of the pointy ! Absolute joke decision. God only knows where he got that from. In the end he was looking to penalise Sam for anything and everything and it clearly gave him a kick.

I'm convinced if that had been a defender no penalty would have been awarded, absolute shocker.

Ref's decision making was bizarre, and the booking of Winnall was nothing short of ridiculous.

He gave us bugger all throughout.

The only thing Winnall would have got from this ref is a red card.

I thought the ref was kind to us today.

Hourihane, Pearson, Scowen & Waring could & all probably should've been booked.

Winnall's a crafty player. He's always trying to work the referee which I don't blame him for as every other team seem to do it but today he met a referee that wasn't having any of it.

I love how Sam turns & reacts to the crowd to get them to react & put more pressure on the ref.
