Dire as we were, as the old adage goes "goals change games". The push on Cotter was absolutely blatant. Very strong chance we (undeservedly) get it to 1-1 and the whole trajectory of the game is different. The one on Jalo also looked like a very strong shout. No excuses for our 1st half performance, but neither is there any excuse for the ref to get two absolutely key decisions wrong in such an important game. The first one especially wasn't even debatable. Even the incredibly biased Blackpool commentators said they'd got away with one.
I’d need to see them again but I did think Cotter dove for both, that been said he may have been fouled but tried to make the most of it. The way he theatrically went down made them look like blatant dives to me. He didn’t seem to go down naturally.
I think he went down as naturally as anybody would when they're running that fast and get shoved in the back with two hands! Maybe the fact that it was so blatant made it look like a dive?
Imho the Cotter one is a foul everywhere else on the pitch ....it did look nailed on pen. That said we deserved nothing, they were great...power, pace...application.
Steady on, people will think you are more bothered about getting into the playoffs rather than getting Collins sacked!
Listen to yourself. We more than deserved all three points against Portsmouth but we got bugger all because of a penalty no more legitimate than the two we were refused yesterday
Pompey's was a pretty clear-cut penalty. Correct decision from the ref. For whatever reason, yesterday's imbecile didn't feel the same about either of our shouts. As others have said, they're given as fouls anywhere else on the field. Don't believe it's corrupt, but the incompetence is astonishing.
He did Dive mate But it was also a foul. Seem to recall the same thing happened at Portsmouth on Tuesday night albeit Portsmouth were, of course, awarded a penalty - their 13th of the season.
I thought the Postmouth one was a blatant pen but I was watching at home & got to see it in slow motion & got several angles of it. If I can force myself to sit through them I’ll watch the highlights at some point today.
I thought the Cotter one would have been really soft, he goes down far too dramatically at every attempt for me. But no doubt it would’ve been given against us. Not sure on the Jalo one, both were at it really. From what I can remember anyway, I’m not rewatching the game that’s for sure.
Well, to be totally fair, I was beghind the goal in the Blackpool end and in the first half we got away with 2 nailed on penalties, guess the ref was unsighted but we were really lucky, Cotter diving in the second half was totally embarrasing, overall yesterday was a totally humiliating experience, dire.....
Both referees behaved absolutely consistently. Our opposition get decisions like that, we don't. It's entirely consistent, and has been so since 2017.
If our two were penalties then so were the two Blackpool weren’t awarded. It’s a bit Collins this thread. Remembers the decisions that went against us but not those for, he’s the same with chances in games. Quick to mention ones we’ve had but not the eleventy six million the opposition had. We got what we deserved from the game - losing by one odd goal flattered us.
I know we were all angry with them throughout the first half. But that shocking start to the second half has ultimately cost us, after our good finish.
