Some of you might remember the posting I made the other night about a problem tyre that the manufacturer is refusing to compensate me for. They are sticking it out that the vehicle is at fault NOT the tyre, and will not move. Looks like an independent examination from the British Rubber Manuf Association is on the cards. Only problem is if they say the tyre is not faulty, then I pay for the examination. Where do you go when on the one hand, your very reputable dealer says there's nowt wrong with the car, the replacement tyre, AND the tyre that was on before the rogue one was fitted, were / are perfectly ok - yet on the other, the manufacturer refuses to accept the the tyre is faulty and it's the car to blame. By the way - a warning. Unlike with other goods , when it comes to faulty tyres the procedure appears to be that YOU buy a new tyre first, and the old one goes for examination. In some cases, even if proved faulty, you only get a proportion of your money back, based on how much wear you got out of the previous tyre!!! Imagine doing that with your tellys, DVD players, Irons and Toasters eh. Currys wouldn't know where to turn!
get the examination done if it finds a fault with your car then at least you know about it and can get it fixed
I'd be surprised if they actually send the tyre you returned for an independent examination. Inpectors comments: The tractor tyre we received was in perfect condition with the expected amount of wear for the mileage it had done.
