    I don't think they can accurately measure it so the RSPB

    garden survey is the one most quoted.</p>

    As for the most common in Britain overall it seems to be accepted that it's now the Wood pigeon though.</p>

    Reight. I've got the breeding pairs figures from the RSPB site.

    Had to go to each species seperately. </p>

    Here are the top boys and some interesting ones plus some mentioned in this thread.</p>

    In millions of breeding pairs.</p>

    Wren - 8.5</p>

    Chaffinch- 5.9</p>

    Robin - 5.8</p>

    Blackbird - 4.9</p>

    Blue Tit - 3.5</p>

    House Sparrow - 2.9</p>

    Woodpigeon - 2.8</p>

    Starling - 0.8</p>

    Carrion Crow - 0.8</p>

    Magpie - 0.6</p>

    Long Tailed Tit - 0.3</p>
