The very first spot that you saw the Reds? And have you moved since?

When..... as a mere snip of a lad/lass, wyou were introduced to Oakwell and whoever took you went to their 'usual' spot. When i first went my cousin Alan went into the Brewery Stand (Spion Kop end first half - Ponty End half for the second). But; the following season he changed to the North Terrace right up next to the player's tunnel and remained there for yonks. He ventually moved to the East Stand, under pressure methinks, whereas meself i always remained on the North Terrace - closer to the bar on the corner though (when i was older enough).
But some folk have remained viewing the match from the exact same spot... there were stories of people having stood at the same barrier/ same spot for 20 years. Anyhow; just wondered, that's all??...

    Brewery Stand - halfway line

Then i used to go with some mates. we used to start off early (about 1200) and make our way from Worsbrough to the Cutting Edge busstop. With us we had bags of torn up paper and toilet rolls..... (Something to do with Argentina i think :) ). We then got to the ground at 1230-1300 adn did the usual stint of sneaking over the wall. It was a balancing act with the chance of getting seriousley hurt by broken glass and barbed wire. We the hid under the Brewery stand until the turnstiles were open.

    Ahhh, the memories!

    Oh happy days!

They certainly were great days for a young un... Wasn't the Paddock the last bit between the end entrance/exit and the segregation at the Spion Kop end of the Brewery Stand. This was where the more boisterous Tarn fans stood.

    Yep.....

Used to take a crate to stand on! When the paddock joined in with the ponty with "Come on you reds" (The only song they sang, ever). You could see the oppositions knees start to knock!

    That small strip of land

between the West Stand & the Kop where numerous stray missiles used to fall when supporters were battling. From there to the old disabled stand, although fortunately I wasn't there when the Leeds fans decided to attack it. Now I watch from the Ponty End.

    Barnsley v Enfield

Frank had a massive Austrian flag. Must have been 30ft long, and he had it draped over the wall from the Paddock (spreading towards Ponty End. He got it confiscated by the lovely chaps in uniform... never to be returned i hasten to add. The replay saw 7,500 Reds travelling to London - that was the capacity of their ground so they were right to move to White Hart Lane. Overhearing a policeman: "Fack me! They've brought more than Arsenal the cnuts!"

    Was their

Went with the coach and horses. 7 coaches in a convoy to London. got to the match late. They said the ground was full and we weren't allowed in. They decided otherwise when 500 drunken Barnsley fans decided that the main gate could go as easy as that one at Chester :). The memories!

RE: That small strip of land

That small strup of land was where they used to put the disabled supporters. The 82/83 encounter against Middlesbrough saw one poor sod in a wheelchair being struck by a missile thrown from the Kop. Mayhem ensued on the North Terrace after that 'little' incident

Never saw the incident you mention, I spent most of those years away from home. It could possible be my mate Andy who it happened to though cos I remember him telling me at one match about getting hit on the head with something & wearing a hard hat to the next home game, not wanting a repeat performance!

I was taken to my first match

by Jack Barraclough, my mate Dave's Dad. It was a night match and I was about 5 or 6 at the time.

We went round the back of the Brewery Stand and up the gangway.

Suddenly I saw the really dazzling floodlights and BRIGHT RED and BRIGHT YELLOW kitted players on the emerald GREEN grass.

I turned to my mate Dave and said "It's in colour!"

I had never been to a match before and we only had a black & white telly.

    It was ACE!

True story, probably around 1970. Hooked for life from that moment.

Could well be your mate. The Barnsley fans went mental and there were a few shenanigans outside to boot, plus along the way back to the station. The Boro lot that day didn't fancy there chances. It was a tad different on another occasion, mind. Maybe that's why they decide to build the disabled stand? Fisrt class to Barnsley FC for the Disable Stand..... and i still don't think we get enough recognition for the development!
