5-0 OK it looks bad but lets consider the difference in finances available to both clubs. Must be honest here, Barnsley did NOT play badly but were defeated by a much more talently aware side. They were streets ahead of us. This is what happens when you have limitless riches. This is so frustrating but unfortunately its a sign of the times. The playing field is certainly not level. Now its back to league survival. Heads up lads, the dream of FA Cup success is over for this year but the battle to remain in the championship is still alive. We played well tonight, believe me we were not that bad but unfortunately the obvious talent that Man C have got has shone through. The gulf in talent is enormous and only an injection of countless millions will close it. Football is in a perilous state and results like this will not help matters. Money talks and the rich will get richer. I for one am not confident for the future of the game as we know it. Well that's my opinion, what's yours?
On the whole I think we were poor because some players didn't turn up. We gave them too much respect and stood off too much at times. There were a few positives, Mellis and Perkins were good but we didn't cover ourselves in glory today. I thought we'd put up more of a fight than we did.
Barnsley players were a bit overawed with them. They showed too much respect. They certainly played well the second half. Being realistic the opposition are multi national players, in European cup, Premier league champions, and at home. Lets get it out of our system and get back to reality Tuesday night, we need three points
