Isn't it an elk or moose that's on their badge? So why they called Hornets? Why not a hornet on the badge? Random thread I know.
Head of a Hart, symbol of the county, Hertfordshire. Hart being an old English term for a deer. Used to be a hornet in the 70's http://mobile.watfordfc.com/news/article/120802-history-badges-of-honour-644268.aspx
It is probably a hart as Watford is In Hartfordshire. The are called the hornets because their traditional colours are yellow and black.
