It's going to be two degrees from about 10pm until the rain arrives at 6am tomorrow morning. Then the temperature isn't going to rise above 4 degrees until the afternoon. Snow accumulates if the ground temperature is cold enough and between -4 and 4 degrees. So when the rain arrives there's a good chance it will fall as snow. Why hasn't snow been forecast based on the science?
Steve mate, I think your science is flawed, as I understand it, snow depends more on air temperature than ground. Frozen ground can create black ice when rain falls on it, but snow requires water vapour to freeze in the air - usually actually in the clouds. Cold ground temperatures may be required to allow the snow to settle rather than simply melt...
