....but this man is by the far the most deserving of the title I've seen in quite a while. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/6921217.stm Wish the politicians would listen to them.
<div>He's right, war is not worth it and should never have to be.</div><div>But at times there is no alternative, unless we want to live with the consequences of appeasement.</div><div>He is nevertheless one of the true heroes though.</div>
We don't know how lucky we are... My dad, who claimed to have done nothing more or less than anyone else who was there, had stories from WW2 that I think are worthy of a book. He thought his stories were run of the mill and many more people had done more, he siad he just did what he needed to survive and do his bit. When you hear the storeis though, it makes you question whether you'd have done the same and been up to it. I'd like to think I was, but I'm always left thinking people today are a bit soft ... and I'd probably have bottled it.
Perhaps it's worth wondering why so many do the fighting for so few. I always think of those British and German soldiers who put down their weapons on Christmas day, crossed the trenches, ate each others food, played football swapped photos of loved ones and then went back to their tranches.</p> The next day they were back to killing each other. Barmy.</p>
