Comical defending from Mellis and Dawson.

Martin was screaming for the ball, arms flailing around, waiting for the ball to drop, like any good striker would do.

Mellis and Dawson stood about 2 yards from him, impersonating lemons.

Ball drops to Martin. Bang. 0-1. Unreal.

Are you sure you couldn't work Paddy into the blame somehow?

Or we could have stopped the ball coming in from our right hand side to start with. I played full back for years, still a defender now at 44, always told to stop the cross coming in.

You're absolutely right, but what happened afterwards was a disgrace and shouldn't go unmentioned. Leaving a centre forward unmarked in the box, whilst ball watching? Calling that schoolboy defending would be unfair to any schoolboy defender out there.

    Was it Dawson or Ramage?

Arguably ramage at fault too, but at least he was defending the goal. Dawson and mellis were just stood there, ball watching.

No it means someone got close enough to get something on the ball, just unlucky with the outcome. Maybe Wiseman should have tried the same, then the cross doesn't come in.

I am not saying that Mellis or Dawson should not have done better, but the centre forward should be marked by the central defender, the midfielders should be picking up the opponents midfielders . All immaterial to be honest, because the ball should never have got to him.

The midfielders should be picking up the opponents midfielders.....they weren't doing that either!!

I don't care whose man it is, when they're that close to goal, each and every one of them should be busting a gut to cover and stop their players getting a shot in. They just stood there.

I agree, but they were not responsible for the striker being unmarked in the first instance, that was down to the Central defenders, they are the ones that should have bust a gut to get to him, although once he walked away from them the others should have done better to prevent the goal.
No-one should be spared from the blame . no-one !

True! From reading Wilson's comments about shipping some players out for the good of the team I expect that some of the higher earners may leave in the window. Not quite sure who they are like.

I blame Gary Willard. If he hadn't robbed us at Hillsborough of a point, and then three against Liverpool, we'd have stayed in the Premier League and never have had to watch the likes of Kennedy, Wiseman or Dawson.

Their goal came about because Wiseman had come inside leaving Dawkins with about 10/15 yards of space behind him. He then failed to close him down quick enough, by the time the ball fell to their striker there were 3 players closer to him then Dawson or Mellis - Ramage, Etuhu and Wiseman. I'm not sure how its anyone's fault but Wiseman's and possibly Etuhu's.

Agree with that. Wiseman left him too much space to begin with then closed him down in slow motion, I was shouting for him to close it down and he didn't seem to move for a second. Etuhu made no attempt to get there either when he must have realised wiseman was gonna struggle to get there.

I blame Tiverton Preedy for setting the club up in the first place...I could then have spent my time and money doing something more worthwhile on a Saturday afternoon....
