Having just listened to Radio Sheffield and Mark Robins dishing out phone numbers so that people can "pledge their support" by credit card, i certainly feel there is more to this than meets the eye. Especially when their chairman has today admitted that no players have been asked to take any form of pay cut. This smacks of a club sensing an opportunity to cunningly avoid administration thus allowing them to attempt to hang on to their league one status. I can hear them now...... "We aren't really going to go bust but we'll say we are because there are plenty of daft Barstewards who will give us money with which we can pay our squad. They may even contribute enough to allow us to keep Paul Shaw all season!" They are asking for charity not to keep RUFC in existence but to pay for the everyday expenses that all football clubs accrue! Its nothing more than BEGGING for people to support their League 1 status, not their very existence. When they start to lose players and struggle to put a side out, i may start to feel a tiny amount of sympathy. When I hear of Paul Shaw being released or Jon Forte being sent back, it may ring true. As it stands, i'm damned if i'm going to contribute to their avoiding administration. IT WAS ONLY TWO WEEKS AGO THAT THEY SIGNED PAUL SHAW!! WERE THE PROBLEMS NOT EVIDENT THEN?? Club in crisis my arse! Obtaining money by deception more like. I hope they get tonked tonight the decietful Barstewards.

[edited by TommyC Fri Feb 10 20:13:36 2006]

Mmmmm Was feeling sorry for them, but it did occur to me Why are they building a new stand if they're in such a plight?
