    I can afford £170k

There's no way they will come down so far is there. I mean I really can't afford that house I know I can't. There's no point me putting in an offer of £170k because I know they won't accept it.

What are my chances of buying the house that I am not putting in an offer on?

    Now let's try this.

I am almost sure they won't come down that far but I know they really want to sell their house and I really want to buy it so I'm going to put an offer in. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Wish me luck.

What are my chances of buying the house that I am putting a cheeky offer in on?

If I was the house and I was worth £200k, I would be well pissed off if you offered only £170k for me. I would "get monk on" and not perform to my usual standards, my roof would start leaking, the heating wouldn't work and all the food in my freezer would thaw out. I'd really get demotivated. If you hadn't offered me the £170k, I would never have known how little you valued me, and I would have carried on performing as if nothing had happened. Which it didn't.

That's completely specious and you know it. The difference between 200 and 170 is negligible. The difference between 12, even 15k and 28k PER WEEK is unbridgeable.

depends how desperate they are..... how long has it been on the market? Ask the estate agent if any other offers have been made. Also put it on zoopla and get an online valuation of it . HTH.

I'd pay £250k just for the opportunity to live near you.

I know let's start another thread where the purpose is to bash the club. Why didn't you subsidise conor's extra 23k a week he earned by moving to villa.

I think you'll find that is offering the full asking price of £200k

Ps, if Villa offered him a contract last summer then why haven't we reported them to the fa?

Who said I only valued the house at £170k? I simply said it was all I could afford.

It's worth what ever someone is prepared to pay for it

If you are the only. Person that wants to buy it then it's worth 170 its then up to the vendor to decide if the want to sell

If you can only afford 170 offer 160

To extend your analogy. Let's say I like a house that's worth £400k and I know it is. So I go to the owners and say I'll give you £200k. Is that a cheeky bid or an insult?

Just because the vendor says it's worth 200k doesn't mean itis

That's not quite the same as offering 15% less. Is it

    I would. Say 15%was acceptable
. I've done both ways to be honest

This is possibly the most tenuous analogy I've seen on the BBS.

Yes, but ST is trying to suggest we could have got the likes of Hourihane to sign with a "cheeky bid" when I'm saying that we could only at a stretch afford to offer him half of what he's on now.. I've bid 15% under on a house myself. It's expected. If I bid 50% under I'd expect to be told to F**k off.

Good thing abart the club bashing threads is that it gives you more opportunities to come to their defence.

Nobody had made a bid for hourihane last summer before he had played a championship game.

You are confusing me entering a bid when I am the only bidder with me entering a low bid when they have already got a high bid.

Actually what I was trying to get at is that no matter how low you think your chances are you always have less chance of you don't bother. If a footballer doesn't shoot he doesn't score for example

If we had offered him a contract after promotion from L1 would he have expected 28k a week?

Next excuse will be "what if we offered him a three year extension on increased wages but he was no good and we got relegated?"

Lets say there was a house next door that was bought for 200K 2 years ago.

Its owners said we were ok to buy it after the 2 years were up. However, someone down the road has just won the lottery and now wants it and is willing to pay 800K.

Whats our move? We can only afford 200K.

Tell them we'll offer them 400K? Match the 800k of the lottery winner?

    Or look for another house....
