Mind-boggling that Hendrix played a right-handed Axe strung the other way, rather than a bespoke left-handed version. Strats weren't made to be played that way. Still the daddy of them all though.
It wasn't strung the other way. It was conventionally strung top E down to low E, but the guitar itself was upside down. The bridge and tale piece were true to the right hand model which meant tremelo arm was working in an opposite action given the relative string configuration. You'd get used to it I suppose. I seen several lefties right strung guitars upside down or left hand guitars strung backwards. Mind boggling. Well, not really...
Mr C - You're absolutely right. I missed that bit out - that is the mind-boggling thing to me. Strung the other way makes some kinda sense - but as you say - upside down (effectively) and all is really strange. It's nearly like Da Vinci's mirror writing, innit?
Stevie Ray did that and kept the trem the wrong way round ie the wham bar at the top. People get used to allsorts but they where talanted for their time, timeless for me. I use a right handed body and a lefty neck strung just like you say,but im no hendix lol
