    On a completely different line...

If you ever go near Chaucer Road, would you take a photo from the bottom of the road of the left hand side of the street and PM it to me, please? It's my only memory of Mexborough (30 years ago!).

Well, the side nearest to Windhill, or the end nearer to The Star pub?

Well your in luck. I've got to go out with a disposable camera and take pictures for my art coursework so I'll take one. Good job its only a disposable one if im going down there.

    :D

They're all new council houses now.

"They're all new council houses now"!

    :'( :'(

Don't waste your disposable camera shots on new council houses!!!

    That's a depressing thought.....

My last memory of Mexborough was having 'flu and being taken to Chaucer Road from the reception of a family wedding in Swinton to be looked after by my Gran and her friend Hilda.

Saw my first adder in the garden next door! Don't suppose there's much non-human wildlife round there anymore!

Might be the odd one or two old ones on there, the owned ones.

    Can't remember the number (27?)

Didn't live there but stayed there when we were visiting my Dad's family. Next door neighbours were Geoff Salmons' parents (he was a Blunt at the time, but was nice enough to sign his football picture card, so partial forgiveness is in order!). My Dad was born in the "Fever Hospital" in Mexborough. Bet that's a f**kin' Tesco or summat now.

Now we're in the dimmest recesses of my memory....

so dim, in fact, that, although I can still picture the building, I have no othe rreference points! I don't even know if the "Fever Hospital" was part of the General Hospital or separate!

I'd better hit the sack - work soon!!

Good night and thank you, memories of childhood are flooding back just now!
