Not just on here but at Crawley yesterday and amongst the reds fans I've spoken to about our current predicament. I can't help but think until we sell the club and get some fresh investment in we aren't going to move forward. This isn't me having a go at the board or the Crynes who have been instrumental in keeping the club afloat for the last few years. We struggled in the championship for 8 years and there's a dark cloud over our club that's wrecked the morale and knocked the stuffing out of the fans to the extent that people are getting to the point where it's a chore following us and it's not enjoyable being a barnsley fan anymore for the most part. That's why I think it's important we get a manager in with a new fresh approach and an attacking outlook. For to long we've been little old barnsley playing conservative football looking to avoid defeat rather than win football matches. That in my opinion was Wilson's down fall and probably what did for Hill and Flitcroft as well. Let's get a manager in who's going to inspire this group of young lads into having a go at teams and undoing the shackles we seem to have had on them in recent times. Whoever comes in needs our support from day one wether it was your personal preference or not....
Are we playing conservative football because the manager knows he`s probably only got a coupla months before he`s sacked.
Looks to me like unless we pull a lucky dip out of the bag, manager wise, we will just keep on going in an ever decreasing circle. The man at the top needs to get lucky. Taking the rough with the smooth gets harder, when the smooth has been in very short supply over a long period of time. A new manager will give renewed hope for the faithful and see seats filled once more come the Summer. Its just business.
"If I don't get who I want, EXACTLY who I want, I'll scweam and scweam until I'm sick!" <img src ="http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2009/06/14/article-1192916-00CB5DB100000190-868_468x575.jpg">
I don't agree. With the right manager we have the resources to be a force in this division and with the right scouting network and development plans in place we could survive in the championship.
When was the last time we had one in place? All this computer spreadsheet ******** clearly isn't working. We need to set up a scouting network, albeit a small affordable one. The only way to identify players is by watching them and actually seeing if they will fit in to whatever system our manager sets up. Peterborough, prime example.
We "survived" for 8 years and it's all but finished a lot of our fans off and the ones still going are losing faith in what's happening....
Before and directly after we beat Bradford, their supporters wanted Parkinson sacked. But their board stuck with it. Now look. Same goes for Flicker at Bury. Lost a few games, fans wanted shut, board stuck with it, and now they're flying again. Rodgers at Liverpool, Pardew when at Newcastle. Just a few recent examples. Coming through a **** patch can often make a team better. But we don't allow our managers to come out of one, without a p45 in their hand...
Nobody ants a repeat of that. Last time we hD none of the things that PP outlined. It's why it was unmitigated *****.
I'm not convinced that this particular sacking is simply about results tho'. Although hardly sparkling there was a sufficient number of wins for relegation not to be a worry and flirting with the play-offs being an outside bet.
Simon Davey had a decent scouting network didn't he? Some good some bad players came from it but we struggled every year using it and when robins came in we seemed to become reliant on a lot of loan players coming in and never looked back.

Fully agree mate. Our model dictates we unearth a saleable asset every season; home developed or plucked from elsewhere. We need a number of people with a decent eye for talent, watching an unhealthy amount of football for that to happen.
Maybe but there's different types of talent spotting. It's one thing getting lads of 29-32 who can do a job now versus lads of 20-23 who with a bit of work can be shifted on at a healthy profit.
Dave Hodgson got Heinz Muller for Davey and probably got him managers job at Darlington too. Managers are always being contacted by agents and the like. Although am sure we`ve always had our man in Peru whom gave us Miguel Mostto.
