What a Shambles why not Radio Sheffield

Or is it another way to fleece the paying fans. Away matches you have to pay to listen. Home matches, well have you tried to listen to the station they are to broadcast home matches from. I have problems with the reception and I bloody live in Barnsley FFS.

For goodness sake talk to Radio Sheffield. we may not like the way they share out the coverage, but they are far more proffesional.

So we just let Radio Dee Dah

walk all over us. Next season they might offer even less.

We might have a good reason to fall out with radio sheffield, but making out what we are left with is in the best interest of fans is wrong. We are going to be worse off. You have to pay (and be connected to internet) for barnsley world, dearne fm is not great with reds news (although it might get slightly better if the club are going to favour them over other stations), and oakwell am is nightmare unless you live within sight of oakwell.

Say all you want about favouritism and the payment issues, but radio sheffield is by far the best source of news from the mainstream local press, and if we are deliberately going to snub them, its the fans that will lose out.

Agree, the club must talk to them and come to some agreement. No good the club 'cutting off their noses to spite their face'

We don't need Radio Sheffield and our own exclusive channel will be ace. Those who say we still need them are worried about change. You will soon get use to not having to bother with them anymore.

    RE: No

As you state we have got a good reason for falling out with them, but then you go on to saythat we should still work with them. Bit of a contradiction there. The club are doing their best to provide a solution that will satisfy the majority of fans. I would say a majority have aconnection to the internet (I may be wrong) and so the only stumbling block is the payment to receive BarnsleyWorld. But in this life nothing comes for free and £35 for a full year isn't bad value. On the Dearne FM issue the news coverage on there in the past hasn't been good because we have been working with Radio Sheff. Once the deal is done to work exclusively with Dearne I am sure it will improve immeasurably.

Agree with you about Oakwell AM though. The signal is shockingly bad and needs improving massively.

    Its the best

but its still ****, is that what we're saying? thats what we should settle for, being paid a pitance in comparison cos there's no alternative, they know it so we're held to ransom?

    no thanks.

Dearne FM has more advertisements than content. Oakwell AM amateurs playing at it, and you can't get reception if you're more than five miles from the ground; and as for paying £35 quid. OK Gordon, take it off next season's tickets. I think the fault lies more with BFC than the BBC.

I think barnsley world is a steal for what you get tbh. 4quid a month and you get to listen to every game + more. i know it may not be ideal to listen to all the games at home on your pc but at least the coverage is always there.

    Pathetic

I can't get Oakwell 1575 or Dearne FM so I'm screwed. I will not pay a monthly subscription for something I will rarely use. I already pay enough for other things (sky etc) and I'm not going to pay for this.

OK, radio Sheffield favours the Sheffield clubs but that is to be expected. As the bigger clubs in the area, with more fans and therefore more listeners then it's to be expected they get more games covered. However, Radio Sheff has never refused to cover Barnsley is some way, not even now when we refuse to talk to them.

I also believe what Radio Sheff say. If it's a fixed rate for everyone and they don't pay anyone for access then why should we be different.

This deal may be better for the club as they have greater control over it but it will be sh*t for the fans, especially for those of us outside Barnsley but within Radio Sheff area.

Thanks very much BFC, how fu**ing childish.

    Rant over!!

Mr Mort Dearne are coming to the rescue and so soon Radio Sheffield will hopefully be a distant memory. All our games exclusively live is great.
