surely you're not watching the brits? what do you expect? don't people stop watching that at like 14? you don't still read the nme as well do ya?
Nah the NME went **** after like 2005ish. Prefer Nuts mag, although they both have somet in common... They both contain a set of t1ts everyweek! ;P
Coldplay are fantastic! Saw them last year at the Etihad, and they were superb, worthy winners, super talented.
The NME went to pot a long time before that when it cleared out the old guard and started following trends with a high turnover of young wannabes who knew fck all about music and had no reference beyond britpop. The NME used to rule my life, now I wouldn't wipe my arse on it. Smash hits for posers. If you really want to read some high end music journalism, look up Nick Kent, Kris Needs, Julie Birchall, Carol Clerk, Tony Parsons....
Hmm no the band you want to be listening to after your team gets beat. Can be a wee bit depressing at times. BTW Good user name you have. The Offspring, now there is a band worth listening to.
Disagree. '"It was fantastic to watch Coldplay's Chris Martin get punched in the face by that man in the crowd"
I can sort of understand the reasoning behind this. Songs like Trouble, The Scientist and Fix You; shudder; and assume that all of their songs must be cut from the same cloth. I know it’s hopelessly naive of me to assume that any ardent Coldplay hater will even bother to listen to any of the following; but their back catalogue is loaded with such infective nuggets of incandescent joy as Shiver, Hurts Like Heaven, Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall, Lovers In Japan, Strawberry Swing, Speed of Sound and Glass of Water. It’s therefore easy for me to conclude that anyone who makes this argument in earnest either hasn’t heard much Coldplay, or they have no grasp of such concepts as tempo and key. I appreciate it’s hard for some to understand that anybody could ever get anything even approaching enjoyment from listening to Coldplay, but trust me. Some of their songs are powerful enough to inspire an almost overwhelming sense of euphoria. Live, they’re even more potent – even magical. A less developed cousin of this criticism is that all of Coldplay’s songs “sound the same”, with no further discussion of just how this might be at all possible. It’s surprising how often I hear this argument, but when I do I know that I’m safe; as I’m apparently in the company of someone who was born without ears.
I saw Coldplay at the Leadmill back in 2000. I loved Parachutes, and I still think it's a great album. I even liked the second one. But since then, Chris Martin has become the biggest lovely person in music....possibly after Bono. I saw him, the dude from Killers and Bono on stage together a while back. It made me go out and kill a kitten.
Sorry mate, but Coldplay are **** Music for people who dont like / buy music. Fast forward 30 years and no one will give a **** about their piss poor contribution to music history. No balls, no soul no funk. (edit) and I wasn't born without ears, worked in music retail for 8+ years so spent a fecking long time listening to a lot of different stuff. I could give you a very long list of artists that are miles better in a million ways, but as you like Coldplay it would be pointless for both of us.
What about Brian Johnson's voice then? Love AC/DC, but to say Chris Martins voice is irritating when you listen to AC/DC is just absurd.
Coldplay will be remembered for years, you just hope they won't. And i am very proud of my CD collection thankyou very much. Just because you worked in music for so many years doesn't make your taste in music superior to mine, because that's all it is, taste. I'm certain you would be very surprised with my CD collection if you saw it.
There's some right music snobs in this thread. Each to their own I say. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it can be applied to music too. Shaking my head at some of the posts above. Cool? Fook off.
