So there's not going to be a rescue. I wonder what the cut-off point was? 827 of them up there and they get rescued, 826 and it's not worth it? Allowing 827 folk to die is clearly barbaric, the conscience of the world cannot allow us to stand around and do nothing, but 826 and isn't so bad, we can live with that. I would have thought that as there are fewer stranded people than they believed, then the rescue mission would actually be easier than the one they were planning. There's a moral to this story; if you're ever going to do owt that might be a bit dangerous, make sure there's a massive crowd of you doing it or you'll be left to your own devices should owt go wrong. I wouldn't recommend leaving the house in groups of less than fifteen hundred.
They daren't go up the mountains in case they get stuck. Nobody will offer to rescue them! Actually they probably will get rescued and re located the UK...
I found the original reporting of this story quite odd in that many reports claimed that they "Couldn't come down the mountain for fear of being killed by ISIS who had driven them out of their homes".. I thought "If ISIS are really that bad (which im sure they are) what was stopping them going up after them? "INFIDELS! We shall kill you all!"" "Quick up the mountain!" "We hate you, but not enough to climb the mountain!" I found it a bit strange tbh.
Well, in the original series they always had problems getting up the stairs and mountains are similar... .Oh wait, I think I'm mixing up Daleks and ISIS.
Maybe ISIS ride elephants - I heard something recently that if you are chased by an elephant (not all that likely) then run up a hill as elephants don't like going up hills. Though that would have scuppered Hannibal!
I think the logic behind that.... ... is that you don't need to waste energy pursuing someone who has nowhere to go and will either have to come back to you to be slaughtered, or just die on the mountain and save you the trouble.
