    The players could quite easily have agreed to the cancellation of the contracts without any pay-off. This allows them to choose who they want to sign for and receive a signing on fee from their new club.

    Jay - why not try and post a positive thread for once

    instead of sitting on the fence and squarking (like a member of the crow family) all the time

    which to me says they haven't left on the cheap. The alternative is they stay for the remainder of their contract, do not play and cost us lots of money. This wasy they have saved us some cash, or made us money, depending on how you view it. Good business, not always easy to get rid of players on contracts without it costing us big.
