Things said in meetings to a couple of dozen supporters, things said on facebook to a few "freinds". Why? Why do that? The club has a fortnightly match programme, a website and local newspapers and radio banging on the door, so why not use one of those mediums? If things need saying, why arent they beng said in a format that reaches the widest audience?
Its all part of the divide and conquer mentality that is prevalent in todays Britain. Tell a few people something and ask them not to repeat it, they then think they are better than the others because of what they know, then tell a different group something else and they think they are better because of what they know. Then those two groups start to try and look better than everyone else, but they are so busy doing that they cant see the problems actually in front of their eyes, they both think the problems are someone elses fault , because thats what they were both told ! It deflects any criticism from being directed at the real problem !
It's a crock of ***** that's why. No one really except dyson seems to ask any challenging questions at any of these...
Just think It's Mr Cryne not liking any critisism , who does, but just feel he needs to think that it's only the minority that wants him out , without him there we will free fall in to oblivion.
Don't know if you've noticed but we are in free fall and have been for years. It's just now more people have noticed and are seeing through the spin.
Am I reading this thread right? Are we saying the fan engagement forums where people connect to the club are really designed to create a gap between the club and fans? Is that what's being said, really?
Pretty much. The recent fans meeting wasn't open to everyone and only a select few get to read stuff that concerns the club. I'm fine with him having privacy but considering we're in free fall the silence from the club is deafening. If there are club related statements being made they should be made on a public forum, not a private forum accessible to a very select few.
In defence of the club it isn't meant to be a select few that limits fans finding out what's being discussed. The idea is that at least one person from each supporter's group they know about gets to attend, and then gets to ask questions from said group and report back. I've always wondered why they won't allow these meetings to be streamed live, but maybe it's because some of the answers given aren't to be shared with the media? I don't know the answer to that.
That wasn't my intention when I started the thread. I don't buy into that secret clique crap. It was more aimed at the things being said. The statement that has come out Facebook today, was such an important and fundamental statement to anyone who has an interest in Barnsley Football Club, that I can't understand why it wasn't made on the club website. Its set the chinese whispers and rumour mill running again! Why do that?
Bit of a disservice to forum attendees. I've shared updates and also put it strongely to LJ about what's going wrong and what does he mean by a best eleven.
My question was one of asking do we believe this is intended to create a gap between the club and fans, by the club. Just to clarify as that's exactly how it read to me.
After Flicker's great escape I went to the ST holders gathering in the Legends Suite just before the season started. I also went to the same type of event before Danny's first full season (of his second coming). And there was another one with LeeJay just after his appointment. All three times I came away hugely impressed with the manager, and bursting with enthusiasm about our ongoing prospects, and how well set up we were as a club! Makes you feel a bit gullible, dunnit?
