Flicker is the man. Whatever div we end up in, he is the guy to finish off what Keef started. Change the mentality, the DNA of the club from top to bottom He has the fans already, the rest is easy
they are not real fans (the ones that left after 60 minutes), they are real supporters (the ones that left after 94)....flicker knows
Have we ever had a more popular guy as gaffer? Ritchie probably closest in terms of connection with fans. Flicker is young, he's hungry, he's one of us, he wants this club. This guy can only get better and better
totally agree. he's the man to rebuild this Club. i just hope he's at the helm next season - regardless of what division we're in
Flickers popularity is unprecedented but it is easy to see why. I hope he is here next season regardless of which division we are in.
'he is the guy to finish off what Keef started'..........I bloody well hope not, I'm still hoping we'll stop up. ' Flickers popularity is unprecedented '......don't be silly
I'm not a real fan then...at the end of the day it was 4-0, it was raining, there were no pies at half time again, the players knew they weren't getting back into it...no-one can blame anyone for leaving early.
Really? He was considered half the problem when Hill was sacked and if we'd have asked every one of our fans who they wanted I bet hardly anybody would have said Flicker. He got the job by default and he has got almost every fan to a man behind him which I would say was unprecedented - IMO.
I thought I was a fan (fanatic) and a supporter was a little more behind a club than a follower. All semantics
If you listen to the interview, you can hear it was a slip of the tongue on which he swooped down and skilfully swept up, before it splattered on the pavement, with a deft Flickerism. Their is a superhero quality about Flitcroft, don't care what anyone says.
Playing the Devil's Advocate here - maybe its the fans that left when it was 4-0 who are the real Barnsley fanatics. They were so upset at seeing their team get hammered that they could not take any more. Personally, I never ever leave before the end but that's not because of my blind loyalty to the Reds. It costs enough to watch a game without disappearing with 25% of the game still to play. I'm also a football fan who can appreciate the opposition and the brand of football they play. Charlton were superb on Saturday doing to us what we've been doing to other teams but with a superior cutting edge to them. I know we were never going to come back from 4-0 but I've seen too many late revivals (usually from the opposition - anyone remember Ipswich?) in my life to disappear before the final whistle. I must admit I've never booed in my life either so maybe that makes me something out of the oridinary
That's very generous, but I think for many the pub is a better option or 'beating the traffic'. I don't think it's out of undying love for the Reds! It's says more about them and their priorities, than it says about the team. I shamefully left 5 minutes early against Peterborough because I didn't want to wait 50 minutes for a bus. If we were winning or looked like getting something, I would have stayed until the end. Felt dreadful about it, but I just wanted to get home that night. I had an out of body experience, where I saw myself sneaking out.
Don't get me wrong ,Flicker is popular and its been a massive turnaround for him .....but unprecedented it isn't I'd reserve that for the likes of Wilson,Clarke, Hunter......lets hope Flicker gets there, I'd say he's approaching Gudjon Thordarson or even Ritchies levels of popularity.....and look what happened to them
Flikers comments, which are clearer when listening on Player than when reading the small write up, is that supporters clapped at HT and at FT, there is no reference by him about those that left early. My take on it is that 6 months ago fans would have booed at HT and FT and he is acknowledging the change amongst fans from then to now. So if you were their at HT and you clapped, or you didn't boo then good on ya! I don't have a problem with anyone who left before FT, the game was done and it was hard to watch, people have better things to do. There were a few who booed at HT which was disappointing, thankfully they were the minority and were drowned out by clapping.
as much as I am more than happy to be proven wrong (I didn't want him near the club when keith was given the boot) I will galdly admit that I never expected the rivival we have had under him their is only one more thing to convince me this bloke is the genuine deal. He has in my eyes, proven beyond doubt the motivational aspects, really connected with the fans and proven more than capable of stearing a championship side. However... He has to work through a couple of transfer windows, and more specifically, the january one. now if he can prove decent in the transfer market in replacing lost players (lets face it, we haven't had much luck recently, due to the board or other reasons) then He will obtain 100% backing from me. At the moment its at probably 95%. Only due to the fact I am not sure exactly the quality of player he can attract. Whilst he has obtained a couple so far that have done the business, I am yet to see how he can cobble a team together at the end of the season, or in january once he has had half the team ripped from under his feet. Good Luck flicker, really hope you can pull this off
I see where you're coming from and I agree re: where he is compared to the likes of Clarke, etc. What I meant was that his turnaround from being seen as half of the Hill problem and very unpopular to where he is now is unprecedented. I just hope he can also achieve what two other relatively recent promotions from assistant to manager have achieved.
I do like Flitcroft but we shouldn't get carried away and to be honest, I would have found Idi Amin more likeable than Keith Hill.
