I was just thinking that. Haven't had it on long so haven't seen that many acts. The worse I have ever seen was Bryan Ferry's performance at Diana's memorial concert it was dreadful.
Not about how they sing , it's the fact they are there. **** me most of them are in their 60's or 70's
Not having a go at the artists, just the fact they've been asked to perform when they're past it. And it's hardly like anyone'd turn an invite down is it?
If you want artists in their prime go watch little mix, it was about the 60 years and music from every era
All they needed was Bruce fekkin Springsteen and Noddy Holder and it would have been worst ever. Kylie looked well though and Cheryl is fit as. I like Gary Barlow too but the rest were shlte. Hope this helps
Re: A musos view... Not all *****.... Robbie Williams - not the greatest singer but a fantastic showman (not quite in the same league as F. Mercury) but gets the crowd going and owns the stage 9 Cliff Richard... Jeez!!!... voice completely gone should have retired years ago... only the backing singers got him through it. 2 Paul McCartney ... Ditto 2 Cheryl Cole - eye candy but couldn't sing her way out of a paper bag...clutching the mic like her life depended on it. Gary Barlow of all people got her through it. OK in a girl band but not strong enough to go solo without live autotune (which happily was not used in the concert) 4 Will.i.am Absolutely dreadful ... couldnt hold a note in a bucket (remind me -why is he a judge on the voice??) 3 Jessie J....could never understand what the fuss was about as I hate much of her material and she goes over the top when...err.... expressing her individual vocal style. However I now see how good she actually is when singing a decent song ...it was a brilliant live performance. 10 Kylie.... again not the greatest sing but for different reasons 'owns the stage and audience (male section at least) .... does wonders for Kleenex share prices ;-) 8 Grace Jones.... Hoola hooping??..Not sure what to make of that but bloody Hell.... she is in her mid sixties. Carried the song pretty well. 7 Tom Jones... don't like quite a lot of his material but he still sounds the same as he did when he was at his peak. 9 Classical pianist...Not his greatest performance and compared to Peter Donahoe he made 'Rhapsody in Blue' look like hard work (although nothing like as hard work as I used to find it) 7 Boy band JLS?? (can't even be bothered to remember their name since to me a band is made up of people some of whom actually play their own instruments) Bland in the extreme 3 The Commonwealth song...lead from the soldiers wives grew in confidence..African girl was out of tune but as she was only about 9 and given situation we should let her off )although Michael Jackson and Christine Aguilera were about that age and sung the socks of most of the people in the concert at that age. 5 Rolf Harris...old school... to deferential and sychophantic whilst 'filling in' 4 Rob Brydon poor (and Welsh) 4 Lennie Henry poor although the variation on the 'what time do you call this' when the Queen arrive just after Tom Jones was quite good 3 Jimmy Carr Corny as ever which he can usually get away with as he balances that with satire. However he had to 'behave' so he was bland and boring... 3 I recorded it so I could skip through the dross ...Still watching (and skipping) so still some highlights (and most certainly lowlights) to see. Any unmissable stuff still to see??
