I'm in the home straight of listening to my iTunes from A-Z and reckon I'll be finished some time between Easter and the Summer (taken me a few years so far!). Anyway, I am up to Squeeze and specifically East Side Story. Tempted came on, which is a great song. Paul Carrack sings the lead, although Glen Tilbrook sings the second verse. However, there are a couple of phrases sung in a deep voice in the second verse. I've always wondered about those, because Chris Difford has a deep voice and it's clearly not him. So I finally got round to looking it up and it's none other than Elvis Costello, who was producing. When I relistened to it it's clearly Elvis Costello and I'm a little embarrassed for not realising it. Nevertheless, always good to learn something new.

Incidentally, Squeeze are great, although their singles tend to stand head and shoulders above their album tracks, as was the case for many great bands of that era, but Chris Difford's solo stuff, in my opinion, is even better. Nothing hits the highs of songs like Up the Junction and Black Coffee in Bed, but overall his solo stuff is consistently very good. It's very reminiscent of another fave of mine, Stephen Duffy and The Lilac Time.

Anybody else learn anything new today? I apologise in advance for the inevitable "joke" response from thereev!

Well I've just learned that the inverse of f(x) = |x+1|-3 is f^-1(x) = |x+3|-1 or rather I hope it is................

Tempted is a great song. Surprised you didn't recognise EC. Was listening to black coffee in bed while drinking black coffee in bed today.

    Things I learned today

#1 I don't get the a Royal Blood album I guess I'm too old it just sounds like a bad copy of bands I actually like.

Tanks (the army vehicles) were originally called 'landships' when they were first being designed by the British military just before WW1. But as it was all to be hush hush, the codename 'Water Carriers for Russia' was used so that even those responsible for their manufacture were not in on the state secret.
The First Lord of the Admiralty at the time (a man called Winston Churchill) pointed out that this could be shortened to 'WC', thus causing it to become a runninh joke in the forces that they were putting that much effort in to making portaloos.

So Churchill changed it to 'Water Tanks for Russia', and the tank part stuck.

Yisdi one of the answers I got by deduction on The Chase was polymath, meaning someone who is quite adept/knowledgeable at many different subjects, in all my years I have never heard this word used, then lo and behold the fat bird with the campervan on Coro goes and uses it last neet. Weird.

Pointless post I know but just thought I`d share.

I couldn't help but read this in the voice of Patrick Bateman from American Psycho.

Apparently horses will follow a goat

Need to lead some horses anywhere? Just get a goat, put it on a lead and go to desired place, horses apparently will follow it.

I'm old (65) and I've got Royal Blood on repeat in the car and I like it, it's hard to believe that there is only a bass player and a drummer.

Squeeze are a good band and Labelled with love is a very under-rated tune IMO.
