    1. The wireless driver packed in, and though I re installed it, I can't uninstall the original version which is now messing up every log on.
    2. The sound doesn't work even though everything is connected & the Device manager says it's working.
    3. The TV card doesn't work, even though the Device manager says it does.
    4. The web cam doesn't work - and I have a warning message to say so.
    5. None of the 5 USB ports recognise a memory stick/ phone lead/ camera lead, even though the device manager says they're working.
    6. Every so often the computer goes of duplicating Tab Screens ad-infinitum..... they just go forth & multiply ....

Think the whole system is knackered.
    An y tips?? :( (seestars)

    Yep........

But you can backup the important stuff first. Use a USB plug.

    USB not working!

    (doh)

To be fair, I have got a back up thing going on (Acronis True Image), but only want to go back as a last resort.

Think part of it might be due to dust in the system from decorating work, and also some kind of virus.

Slight problem since the system isn't recognising them...

If you want to back stuff up, you could download a Linux live CD, such as an ubuntu CD.
You can boot a usable OS from the CD, without actually installing it onto the hard drive which, as long as the hardware actually works, will recognise your hard disks and USB sticks allowing you to copy and paste any files you want to save.

Once you're happy it's all backed up, recover your Windows installation.

Back up everything you want to keep to a CD or DVD and reformat.

    Is it laptop or desktop

Does it have a single hard drive or a second partition if it has 2 partitions you can drag the photo's etc onto that partition and recover or reinstall. or as already stated write to DVD or CD.

    desktop

Might be able to save the photos first - not many to worry about as the USB packed in so I couldn't get them on there!!
