I've just had to put some air in my car tire because it was a bit flat - £1.50! I've just paid for air - the most plentiful resource on Earth. Whilst I'm here, hospital parking should be free also.
I suppose they have to pay for the machine itself, electric and maintenance/ fixing etc of it I agree that the staff working in hospitals shouldn't have to pay , should have there own designated area and some kind of card to enter,
Free hospital parking would be great for visitors to nearby work places and businesses to clog in up all day making it harder for those using the hospital to find a space.
My missus works at the hospital and has to park on a side street otherwise she’s forced to pay. To attend her job. It’s a disgrace. I have my own - free - parking space with my name on at my office car park. Embarrassing.
Digital Tyre inflators are reasonably cheap mate. £10-£20. I paid £14 on line and much more convenient. I had a flat when I got back to the airport car park once. Tbh air is free. Compressed air is another story. Although its cost has shot up seems only a couple of years ago 20p was the norm at supermarket stations. As for hospital parking I'm not against charging as the funds generally go into th NHS. But summat has to be done re spaces available. I think a lot of the strain on BDGH parking will disappear once the NHS community outpatient depts are completed in the Alhambra.
I would argue that it should be charged to all users, but staff should be able to claim it back through an expenses claim. That would stop people using the parking when they shouldn't be.
The hardest thing about using a garage air machine, if you are on your own, is knowing when the pressure is correct. You have to be on the floor to hold the thing tight against your tyre valve so cannot see the display or, in most cases, cannot hear the beep beep when it reaches the desired setting. I'm thinking about getting one of those hand held gadgets but how does it work? Do you have to keep it charged up via the car's power sockets or is there an option to plug it in at home?
