1. The name of our club is actually 'The likes of Barnsley'. Our nickname is of course 'The Struggling Tykes'. 2. Our target has to be fourth bottom as we can't compete financially. (Might have a point there but I don't think it needs saying every five minutes). 3. We were the better side in the second half last night. 4. We achieved our first away point last night 5. Sky football league presenters, just like the BBC, are a bunch of under-researched cliche-mongers who miss no opportunity to act surprised if 'The Likes of' Barnsley play well, and like a bit of condescension. (I'll exclude Scowcroft, thought he was ok after the game yesterday).
Me too especially considering he really had an interest in Ipswich doing well - I thought Macca gave a good post match interview as well = wouldnt have wanted to be in Cresswell's boots when Macca saw him post game though must admit I have been disappointed with Sky's patronising coverage of us over the last 2 games - but I can cope if we arent losing
You've shortened our full name - "We really should be beating the likes of Barnsley" - referenced in all other fans forums across the UK. Usually just before a manager gets sacked.
I found it quite amusing when the commentator (can't remember which) suggested you'd have to "really rummage around in your box of cliches to find one suitable to describe this game" when referring to their dominance in the first half and ours in the second.
Keep reminding the viewers how many we've conceded all year. Agree about Scowcroft as well - made some good comments about the game and our performance. Have him as a summariser for other games - talks sense
Nothing wrong with any of that because they are correct. My only problem is they had a former Ipswich player there but nobody for us.
I couldnt take exception to anything that was said over both games thought they were pretty impartial
We've been on twice now so they won't have to lower themselves to showing us again this season. Incidentally we haven't lost on Sky in 2013! I know we haven't won either but let's not let that get in the way off good journalism!
why is it that some/most on here find the truth hard to bear we are struggling, we have conceded many many goals, we have struggled since we came back up. We are not a rich club, we have not got the largest fan base . These are all facts. The club are doing as best they can, with the meagre resources they have. Why is this so hard to swallow.
