    Excellent piece of kit

You won't believe the difference it will make to how you watch TV - just get it.

    Fantastic!

Best thing we did was to upgrade from Sky. We now tape everything we want to see and the fact you can pause/ rewind if annoying people ring/ call round is great!

It's excellent, but has its problems.

Our equipment broke down twice in the first 13 months, and because you own the gear (instead of renting it long term like a cable box) after 12 months they sting you for £65 for a call-out.

We only use it for recording the main channels (we don't have Sports) it is a bit of a rip-off compared to Freeview with Hard Drive (see the Humax machine - much bigger hard drive, does exactly the same as a Sky box - record two things and watch a recording back simultaneously) and is free forever. Probably more reliable too.

Unless you desperately want sports/movies then Freeview wins hands down. Only inertia, and the fact that I haggled the £65 down to £32.50 kept me with them.

As people have said, hard drive recording revolutionises how you watch your TV. As long as you don't mind catching everything a day late (or even an hour - e.g. when Lost starts on Sky 1 watch something for 30 mins then start Lost - it will finish 10 mins late minus the commercials!) then it is like TV on demand. You soon get used to it, believe me!

Apart from news and sport I rarely watch anything as it is broadcast.

Even if it's, as you mention, watching something half a hour after it started so can skip through the ads.
