We all know we played ***** for a lot of last season and some of Simon Davey's tactics were baffling at times. However, thinking about it we really weren't far off mid-table where I think 99% of fans would happily settle for. To get to 13th in the table we needed just 6 more points. Think how many easy points we dropped vs Watford (2), Coventry (2), Wolves (2) in the last 5 mins all through silly mistakes from Muller, the Ref and Hassell. Now if those mistakes didn't happen I think we would be happy where we would've ended up.

Add to this the points dropped vs Charlton, Forest, Soton, Blackpool, Norwich etc. I'm sure we could have easily got a few points from those games too.

So my point is, yes we played crap last season and even with some strange tactics we weren't a mile from mid-table. We aren't far off this goal and with more concentration and more being more ruthful against lesser teams we would have done this season. If we can add 4 signings (Defender that can play anywhere in the back 4, attacking mid, winger and a striker) we can easily achieve our goals this season. Now give up moaning about Davey and just give him a chance to prove that he's learnt from his mistakes. We asked for better communication, he's trying (reports from Spain, question night etc.) and we've asked fro 4-4-2 which he has agreed with. Now just get behind the team and if we do crap after 5-10 games then fair enough, let's get rid but whether you like him or not, get behind the team.

What about when Wednesday did everything but score at Hillsborough - that's three points that would've been one using the logic above?

And when we were outplayed by Forest at home in the second half - that's one point that should've been nought.

The point is that wherever we 'should' have turned draws into wins, there's an equal argument for wins turning into draws, and draws into defeats, using the same mindset.

    On balance

IMHO we threw away many more points than we miraculously gained.

Don't know what you're on about

Did everything but score? They had one chance and it was cleared off of the line.

And Forest, so you call leading 1-0 and having a penalty to make it 2-0 with about 30mins to go a point gained. Cuckoo.
